Can the pill cause breast cancer?
 | Two of the most important hormones that control reproduction are estrogens
and progestins. Birth Control Pills are made from Synthetic estrogens
and/or progestins. Experiments have shown that these hormones cause a
woman's breast cells to divide more rapidly, which makes them more easily
affected by carcinogens...agents which cause cancer. |
What about abortion?
| Independent studies have shown that women who have an abortion prior to
their first full-term pregnancy have a 50% increased risk of developing
breast cancer, while those who have an abortion after their first full-term
pregnancy have a 30% increased risk |
| However, these figures change in younger women. If you are younger
than 18 when you have an abortion, you will have a 150% increased risk of
developing breast cancer. This risk increased to 800% if a woman had
her abortion between the 9th and 24th week of pregnancy. |
| If you have a family history of breast cancer and choose an abortion you
have up to a 600% increased risk of developing breast cancer as compared to
the rest of the population. |
Comparing the maternal mortality risk of childbirth to that from abortion,
when proper weight is given to the increased risk of breast cancer and suicide
due to abortion, and the decreased risk of ovarian cancer with full term
pregnancy, abortion is many more times more hazardous to the mother in the long
run that carrying a child to term.
