This site can continue to expand and grow ONLY
with support and input from the people who read it. There is only so much I can write about from a firsthand experience point of view. I rely on a base of enthusiastic readers to help keep this site alive. So far the response has been good and based on my own level of enthusiasm, I trust it will do well in the future.
If you would like to contribute to the site, send me a write up of your experience interfacing any piece of MIDI gear to the GI-10 in standard ASCII format and I'll include it. Please indicate if you DO NOT
want to have your email address included in the document as a source of information for other users. No physical addresses or phone numbers (other than mine) will ever be included. If we have already covered every piece of equipment you own, you can still be of service as a contact person for your gear.
If you read something that you disagree with regarding a piece of equipment or have found a solution or acceptable work-around for a reported problem, we need to hear from you also!
Here is a general guideline of the
type of information I would like from users contributing an article to the list.
- Name - Address - Phone number - Age - Number of years playing the guitar - Type of guitar GK pickup is installed on - String gauge you use on the guitar
- How long have you used the piece of gear you are reviewing - List of all equipment you own IF you would like your name included as a contact person for that gear
I am looking very specifically for recommendations on how to get the most out of any particular piece of gear. If your synth worked great right out of the box and you didn't need to change a thing... great, write it up. But
if you found you needed to make certain changes like velocity sensitivity, bend ranges, mode settings, etc... on the synth itself, a brief description of the steps you took will be GREATLY appreciated by our readers. - I used to
discourage full, sweeping reviews of equipment in the interest of keeping the document to a manageable size when it was distributed via email. Lengthy lists of a given synths preset sounds, and capabilities were prohibitive and
generally non-informative since it is pretty much accepted that any given synth will have a few piano, bass, organ and string patches along with the standard battery of Bulgarian Wood Nymph Water Pipes! This is no longer the case
with the Web Site. Feel free to include whatever you desire but generally the information that is really critical/pertinent to the GI-10 is:
- is it multi-timbral, how many channels? - how many voices, dynamic voice allocation? - velocity settings? - quality of bend/hammer/pull tracking? - Tips on patch alterations that improve
performance with the GI-10 are EXTREMELY welcome!
I reserve the right to edit any contributions to the document, but will only edit for things like format, grammar, spelling, etc. I will never alter the substantive content.
If you're interested in adding a link to this site from your own, here's a little graphic that should be appropriate for the link. |
